Maelgwyn Mineral Services Africa Office Interior
AOJ’s design for Maelgwyn Mineral Services new home seamlessly integrates style and practicality. Spanning 900m² of office space and 1940m² of laboratory interiors, the project reflects the company’s innovative spirit and dedication to creating an inspiring work environment.
A standout feature of this project is the strategic incorporation of the Maelgwyn brands main color red. These red accents guide occupants from the entrance foyer through office spaces and circulation routes, creating a cohesive visual journey. The ceilings further enhance this effect by demarcating different spaces; meeting rooms feature flush plastered ceilings with red highlights, while office spaces have practical drop-in ceilings.
The custom-manufactured red triangular lights suspended throughout the offices draw attention to key areas, reinforcing the brand’s presence and adding a modern touch. This thoughtful design not only supports the brand’s identity but also creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for employees and visitors alike.
The entrance foyer, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, showcases a striking wall mural featuring a red dragon, embodying strength and vision. This powerful visual symbol welcomes visitors and staff, setting the tone for the innovative space beyond.
Embracing biophilic design principles, the office interiors feature indoor planters that enhance air quality and introduce natural elements into the workspace. This integration of nature fosters a healthier and more enjoyable environment, boosting productivity and well-being.
A central pause area, complete with a coffee station, offers an informal meeting and gathering space for staff and clients. This space is designed to encourage interaction and collaboration, crucial for a modern workspace.
To address the challenge of a 20m deep office footprint, innovative lighting solutions have been employed. Large glass partitions in executive offices allow natural light to permeate the open-plan areas, ensuring even the deepest offices feel bright and inviting. These partitions also provide expansive views, connecting occupants to the outside world and enhancing the sense of openness.
This project, crafted by AOJ, exemplifies how thoughtful design can create a workspace that is not only visually appealing but also functional and future-proof, ready to accommodate Maelgwyn’s growth and evolving needs.
